Day #95

Hey there! Add 1900 onto today's day and that's my birth year! Good evening, today I did some washing because for some weird reason, the laundrette is pretty quiet on a Saturday, this might be because students are too hungover to wash clothes, or just too dirty. I then wrote my next article for Student Beans Aberystwyth, "8 people you will always meet on a night out", this will be uploaded on Tuesday most probably, I will put a link when it comes out. In the meantime I'll jsut link you to another article on there.

Hey there! This is my desk, it is super cluttered with ties, a white board, paper and wires but today has been taken up with planning the next article. I'm torn between 'If breaking bad was set in Aberystwyth', '8 people you encounter on a night out' and my '5 pound night out'. Who knows what tomorrow will hold, I'm meeting another Student Beans contributor to talk over the articles.

Hey there, super quick post today, it was Mac's birthday yesterday and I got a little bit drunk, it was good fun and today I had my first two seminars, the first one was great, all about contemporary literature and the second was about Medeival literature, not quite to my taste but hey ho.

Good evening! I am feeling a little bit fragile today after the launch of Student Beans but it was good fun. The editor loved my piece and I hope you guys did too! The three ladies in my photo are (from the left) Ria, a contributor like me, Jess, our social media manager and Sophie our editor. Tomorrow I have no lectures so the plan is to blast the reading.

Day #88

Hey there! Today nearly all of my books arrived - 8 of them. Personal highlights for me include The Road by Cormac Mccarthy and Resistance by Owen Sheers. Afterwards I did some laundry which is where I took this photo, on my little point and shoot, I like it because the town centre looks so separate and distant from the town, yet at the same time, so defined. Tonight I'm going out for a few drinks with a few people which could get a little bit merry but who knows.

Hey there! Today I got feedback for the article that I wrote from the Aberystwyth editor of Student Beans, she loved it and it has now been sent on for review by the central Student Beans team (They are only checking our first articles). All of my flatmates (bar 2) are at home or away on mini breaks and with Becca back at home I'm pretty bored. Ah well, nothing that video games and Netflix can't fix.

Hey there, today, as expected, I am feeling quite fragile. I woke up, had a takeaway pizza because there was no way that I was cooking. I edited my article to submit tomorrow and met the rest of the team in town for a smoothie, we're so hip. It's 5 days until launch (Monday is the launch day) and we are all so excited, I'm working with some great people but we need people to actually read it. Hey there! Super quick post tonight. Exams are over and the fun can begin! Today I picked up some photos I had developed, the photos were taken by the person who originally bought the camera, this was one of them, I quite like it. I also bought some new boots that have a better grip for going out tonight, I really don't fancy falling over on the ice. Tonight is also my £5 challenge, wish me luck!

Bonjour! Today was the day that I wrote my first piece for Student beans, it took me all day and I'll have to edit it tomorrow but I have good feelings for the launch. Tomorrow is the day where essentially everyone finishes exams so there is a party to celebrate. I'm going to get some sleep now. Also the heating in the flat is broken so I moved my portable heater into the corridor in order that my flatmates are warm. I'm such a selfless person.

Day #82

Good evening internet! I have just realised that the strip light in my room doesn't work, this is going to be a mad post. I live at the top of some very steep hills, these hills are paved but this morning it was icy. Very icy. My shoes that I wear have no grip whatsoever, they are as smooth as bowling shoes, these two elements really didn't go well together, like chalk and cheese. If you had to eat the chalk, imagine that. Just imagine. Anyway, I slid from the top of one of the hills right to the bottom, I stayed upright but it was pretty scary. I only stopped because the curb was there and a railing to grab onto. I got a taxi into town instead because I didn't feel too safe next to the road. Anyway, the real point of this story. I was meeting the 7 other people from 'Student beans' for the first time. in Starbucks to discuss ideas for the first issues and as a way of meeting each other. It was really great, productive and a really nice group of people. The article that I have chosen to do by Thursday is written on my whiteboard 'Reasons why Aberystwyth university is the best uni'. It is a little bit wordy but I'll change it and it gives me quite a wide birth to think about. We launch on Monday the 26th of January and are having a small launch party at my flat to celebrate. The article has to be done for Thursday because the company (Student beans is like a franchise with outlets all over the country) want to review the first pieces early to make sure they are up to scratch.

So to recap, I have to have a night out for £5 on Tuesday, I have to write about this night out, I then have to write about why Aberystwyth is so great and keep this blog up. This is going to be a lot of fun!

3 days until the 5 pound night out. I have decided that I will use my coins that have accumulated over the months to chip in for a taxi to and from town, afterall I did promise my nan. Today I went shopping in town and in the shop closest to where I live I found this, reduced cider, 70P, that'll be drunk on Tuesday for sure.

Happy end of exams to me! I am now finished (in terms of exams until the summer). How did they go you ask? They were okay, the first exam much better than the second but hey, I just have to wait for the results. Tonight I will be having a takeaway pizza and watching films with Becca.

Hey there! Welcome to Thursday, one day before my last exam (until the summer). I am revising pretty hard, I've eaten and then today my camera was delivered. It's a dinky and cheap camera to put in my pocket on Tuesday and subsequent outings. I set up my Tab Aberystwyth account today and the first meetup is a week today. My Student beans meetup is on Sunday. It's all go go go.

Day #78

Hey there! Sit down, I have some pretty sweet news to give you! Last night, after I finished Day #77's blog post, myself and Becca were watching some Netflix and my phone started buzzing. It was a landline ringing with an area code that I didn't recognise. I answered and from the other end I heard

'Hello, this is Catherine, calling from The tab at our offices in London, is this Will?'

After a 10 minute phonecall, it turned out that they wanted me to join their writing team, the girl calling had actually read some of my old blog (mainly because I put the link in my application). If you aren't following, The Tab is an already established news and entertainment outlet across the country, much like Student Beans which accepted me a couple of days ago. I have my first feature for the Tab - I am to have a night out on £5 and document pretty much everything about it. I am fairly confident and bought a small point and shoot camera because taking my DSLR round town would be a bad idea. I can't wait for this opportunity, as you can imagine I am really excited. Anyway, I'll keep you updated, obviously.

Hey there! Happy day number 77 and I am now 1/2 exams down! Tonight I am feeling pretty relaxed because the exam felt pretty good. Whether my results reflect that might be a different story but it felt good! Also, Student beans, the features and news outlet that I am now part of goes live on January 26th. The Facebook page is:

Day #76

Hey there! Super quick post tonight because I have an exam tomorrow. My first at university. I am confident but I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Just got to not stress. Today I revised pretty much all day, I cooked a frittata at lunch and went to buy washing up liquid. Least interesting day ever but after this week, no exams. Also, I am booking a trip to East Anglia in February to see my friends at the university in Norwich, timing it just right to see Norwich v Ipswich.

Hey there! Nothing crazy to report today. I need to actually start doing things and taking proper photos soon, otherwise people are going to get bored of this. Trouble is, right now I really don't do a whole lot of stuff, I will make a huge effort after exams have cleared off. This photo was taken in town today, it was raining pretty hard so I took this, nothing super special but that shop on the right of the picture is an outdoor shop. Yeah. Wild times.

Day #74

Hey there! Right now I'm in the library. Yeah, that's right. with books and everything. Today has been recovery from last night. I got a little bit too drunk but it was all good fun. I also got some wicked news, but before I hit you with it let me introduce you to Ingress, an augmented reality game whereby two teams have to take over a location, mine is Aberystwyth (determined by your location). Essentially there are pretend portals and my team (revolutionists) have to go to them in real life and hack them. Pretend hack. It's quite sad but as I haven't left campus for like a week I feel like it might get me out of the house and see different bits of Aberystwyth.

Now for the news. A few days ago, I wrote to a couple of newspapers and online news websites, applying for a position in submitting articles. I haven't heard back from The tab Aberystwyth but today I heard from a woman who is starting up a news outlet called Student beans Aberystwyth, she sounds super organised and there is 8 of us. She is a masters student and wants an article per week, I can't wait for the experience!

Day #73

Good evening and welcome to Friday! I am wearing a relatively Friday-ee feeling shirt with guitars on it. I hope you're approving, nan. Today I revised for a couple of hours, went shopping with Becca, played some video games and chilled out with my flatmates. I also watched the rolling news for most of the day.

 For the last few days, Paris has been hit with a wave of terrorism which culminated in a hostage situation. I have been reading many similar Facebook status' and tweets that all Muslims are bad. I hate this, it means that horrific attacks like today's can be used as instruments for far-right parties to breed hate. Not all Muslims are islamic-extremists in the same way that not all Christians are Nazis.

This seems like I might be jumping on a band wagon but I hate any kind of discrimination against a group of people.

Hey there! Today has been pretty unproductive, my flatmates have an exam tomorrow and as a result, we had a nerf gun battle in the corridor. Girls v Boys. Us boys built a fort and yeah, student stuff I guess. I don't want to join the real world. Tonight I'm going to have a takeaway pizza and play video games. Day #71

Hey there! Today I cooked and I'm still alive! I have just finished a 400 page novel, cracking off 70 pages today to finish it. I was going to read it over Christmas holidays but totally forgot, oh well. Now the proper revision can begin! I have nothing else to report, I have literally shut myself away for the day reading and then cooking. I cooked a feta, bacon, sweetcorn, tomato and spinach fritatta, I love it because I love feta cheese! Tonight I am heading over to Becca's to have some well deserved drinks. Maybe not well deserved. But drinks all the same.

Day #70

Hey there! Welcome to day number 70! It's a Tuesday and only a week until my exams kick off. I can't wait. Obviously. Today I woke up at 9, stayed in bed to revise until 1, had a shower, had lunch, hit the revision and then had a nerf gun war with my flat mates (a nerf gun is a gun that shoots foam darts), it was great fun and really took procrastination to a new level. Today I also applied to a local newspaper to be one of their writers, I had to submit some ideas for features and they would get back to me. I am hopeful to hear back from them but we will have to wait and see. Today's photo is my film camera, I have taken a few photos but I am yet to get them developed, I am going to do this in the next few days or after exams.

Hey there! It's Monday! Hope you had a great day back at work after the festive season. I am so shattered from travelling now, I've arrived, unapcked, had a nerf gun war with my flatmates and now I'm doing some revision before cooking myself some chilli. This seems like a different me back at university but in reality it's just because I really fancied chilli. I haven't met my new flatmate yet but all in good time.

Happy Saturday! Yep, that means you get tomorrow off too! Today is my last full day in Kent until March, I have loved being home, seeing friends and family but now it's time to dive head first back into student life, which isn't really a challenge, it just means I sleep in later, do some work and then drink a little bit more than at home. Tonight I am having a takeaway with my family and going to watch a local band with two of my friends. Today's photo is one of the personalised plectrums that my girlfriend got me, I love them, it makes me feel like a famous musician. Then I realise that I'm just sat in my room playing guitar in my pants.

Day #65

Hey there! It's New Year's day! I am absolutely shattered but I'm feeling good. Last night I spent with my friends from Deal, Arthur (my best friend from primary school) and my girlfriend, who was unfortunately unwell. Everywhere was busy in the pubs that we went to, we stood and watched the fireworks through a little bit of an alcoholic haze and welcomed in the start of a new year. Everyone is saying that a new year is a new them but I think change comes over time. If that isn't true then I don't think you should wait 365 days to make a change. This is a snow globe that was at my nan's house, it's cute but the last one to be seen probably until next festive period. Tonight I'm going to relax, which is all I ever do but it'll be relaxing with the purpose of recovering.
