Good evening! Today was Becca's day off so I hopped on a train and met her. We visited the newly re-opened Battle of Britain memorial, complete with 'Scramble experience'. I love history, as you may or may not know, but until today, I don't think I properly grasped the full emotion of both Britain and the pilots themselves during the second world war. After the fall of France and the evacuation of Dunkirk, Britain was on the brink of invasion, the Germans geared up for Operation Sea lion and our island was desperately gearing up for any defence that they could. It really struck me today how vital the RAF was during the second world war and that, as repeated throughout the museum "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few".
My photo for today is of the huge brickwork propeller at the memorial site with a statue of an airman looking out across the sea. I couldn't get all of the propeller in because of the scale of the thing.

Until tomorrow
Will :)
