Day #267

Hey there! It's 9 o'clock and I'm going to bed, what is this? Granted it's because I'm getting up early to go to Brighton pride with my Fellow Heart Angels, but it really feels like I'm betraying my university self. On a different note, my mother returned from her week-long secret retreat, nothing dodgy, just a lot of brilliant activities! That sounds strange if you didn't know she was doing it but I think she's had an amazing time.

Until tomorrow

Day #266

Hey there! Tonight was my last Luna cinema shift, Leeds castle to watch Back to the future! The back drop was stunning, a castle on a lake that my grandparents used to take myself and my brother to quite often. We smashed the competition entries, as we have done each time we've been at a Luna event - probably due to the fact that people are waiting around, not doing too much. Today's photo is the team that was working tonight, a great group of people and I'm super excited for Brighton pride on Saturday!

Day #265

Hey there, after reading yesterday's blog post, I realise that once I've had a little bit to drink (a jug and a half of cocktail and a shot of sambuca), my writing reverts itself to myself at primary school, desperately trying to structure a sentence together with a subject, an object and an adjective. Today was, as described, and as my primary school teacher told us never to use - nice. Becca headed home around lunch time after we'd watched the film 'Walk the line', a biographical drama film based around the life of country singer Johnny Cash and his crazy spiral from bottom of the pile salesman to drug addicted music legend, as you can tell, I love these kinds of films. I have just come through the door after standing for 20 minutes in the pouring rain to try and catch some of Deal's yearly fireworks. To cut a long story mercifully short, the fireworks last year and the year before have been shot from the same point, not far from my house, just on the seafront. Tonight, for some reason as the time slipped past the scheduled blast off, I looked to my left and in the semi-distance, there they were, bright flashes. The fireworks had moved along the coast. I wasn't too bothered because as I said, it was raining pretty horridly and I convinced myself that I had gotten a good shot of the fairground in the night time. Upon looking back at these photos, it seems that the lights of the ferris wheel are either out of focus or there seems to be some rain on the lens - something hard to avoid when setting the shutter speed to thirty seconds. Oh well, live and learn. Tomorrow is my next shift with the Heart Angels, the last Luna Cinema showing, Leeds castle this time.

Until tomorrow

Day #264

Hey there! Super quick post today, myself and Becca went to the Blue Pigeons in Worth for dinner, it was so lovely! Then we headed out with her friends into town which was so cute! Tomorrow I am having dinner with my nan and grandad which will be so nice!

Day #263

Hey there! Today I headed over to Folkestone to see my buddy Arthur. We did the same thing that we've always done since we were 8 -kicked a football around. Great fun! This evening my brother, dad and I moved loads of furniture around to fit in another sofa, the sofa itself is super fluffy and I'm hoping we can keep it but who knows! Tomorrow myself and Becca are eating at a place called 'The blue pigeons' in Worth, which'll be super nice!

Day #262

Hey there! Today my brother arrived home, in Kent for the next week. The first task was to unload the van, a Ford full of things from his flat, expertly packed in by my father! I was sad because I didn't get a photo of the van and U.S. Unloading it but I think this more than makes up for it! I love the photo because I don't have many photos of myself and Thomas so this is brilliant! Plus I'm taller.

Tomorrow I take mum to Faversham to begin her secret expedition away , she has no idea what it is but she has a checklist of things to bring - the most anomalous being a wooly hat and gloves...hmm.

Until tomorrow

Day #261

Hey there! Super quick post today, I'm in the Heart car back to the studio now, we've been at Dirty dancing, the Luna outdoor cinema and it's been great! Today the highlights of my day we're seeing my nan and grandad and seeing Becca. I had fish and chips with my Grandparents which was lovely! I'm off for tomorrow and a few other days which is great! Chill time with my brother Thomas!

Day #260

Hey there! What an evening! Today it rained pretty heavily and yet the Heart Angels were out in force at the Luna open air cinema event at Tonbridge castle. Despite the weather, so many people came and were so enthusiastic to watch Top gun. I love working for Heart because it's always something new, something different. I'm working at Luna over air cinema tomorrow night for Dirty dancing so fingers crossed this rain clears up.

Day #259

Hey there! Super quick post today. I really didn't do a lot, sat around, reading, watching TV and playing video games. I have however, started to utilise a technique called harmonics on the guitar, whereby you bounce notes off one of each other, at least that's what it sounds like!

Until tomorrow

Day #258

Bang! You wanted photos? Take 7 of them! You didn't want the photos? Well they're free, save them for a rainy day when you want to look at some cute photos!

Hey there, I love zoos and places with animals in them, however, I, naturally, dislike small children, more specifically, little kids that scream and shout and don't appreciate anything. So what I'm saying is I would have hated me as a child.

Today myself and Becca headed to Wingham wildlife park, a place to see beautiful, often endangered species in their simulated natural habitat. Highlights included a flamingo walkthrough, a tropical house where Becca made friends with a butterfly and a petting zoo, as well as all the regular lizard huts, lions, tigers and various monkeys. Becca used to work in Wingham wildlife park in the Lemur walkthrough and it was as if the lemurs knew who she was because as soon as she stepped in, they were all over her, very sweet!

Day #257

Hey there! Today was a day of recovering after a busy couple of days in the big smoke. I woke up so late, plonked myself down in front of the television like a small child and only came away when I needed to make salad for dinner. To be fair, the time between me waking up and having to make salad for dinner wasn't too long but hey ho. This Friday and Saturday evening I'm working for Heart again, at Luna cinemas outdoor events at Leeds and Tonbridge castles, I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet but I'll be treated to a viewing of Top gun, Dirty dancing and Back to the future with some great people. Bring it on!

Until tomorrow

Day #256

Hey there! This was my breakfast, a sweet and much needed nectar after a festival of day drinking and loud music. Myself and Becca had aimed to go to a place called The breakfast club because it sounded amazing but after finding out said cafe was closed for renovation, we found Bill's, a very hip cafe in Shoreditch.  My nan grew up in this area of London so it was really nice seeing the places that she was familiar with, although it has probably changed entirely since she was a resident.

The rest of the day was spent at the British library, meeting my brother Russell for a coffee, heading to the Science museum (yes, there were of course screaming kids), meeting Becca's mum for a tour of Westminister and some lovely cocktails. Just before jumping on a train back to quiet old Deal, we met my uncle for a meal, it was so nice catching up and I have decided that I really want to come back to London at least another once before heading back to even quieter Aberystwyth.

Until tomorrow

Day #255

Hey there! Today I headed to London's newest summertime festival -Citadel. Held in Victoria park, the festival was very chilled out, with 3 stages of music, a comedy tent and plenty of other attractions. After seeing a couple of bands and quite abit of varying comedy, myself and Becca went to meet my brother Matt, his girlfriend and friends. We then went from one stage to another, culminating in two brilliant sets from Bombay bicycle club and Ben Howard. After the event, I have 100% decided that one day festivals are perfect - returning to a hotel with showers is absolutely perfect after being at a festival all day, rather than a tent with some wet wipes!

Day #254

Hey there! Today's photo is the story of my day. I unfolded my sun lounger at 10:30 and only came in when it got a little too windy. I smashed out a couple of hundred of pages of my book and got lost in the dark world of Robin Hood. Tomorrow my adventure to London with Becca begins! Sorry to keep this brief, I'm pretty sleepy.

Until tomorrow

Day #253

Hey there! This is my tiger impression! Today myself and the Heart Angels have been at the big cat sanctuary towards Ashford. They rescue said big cats from circus' and even people's homes. They open for 4 days per year to the public and Heart were lucky enough to be invited to do some promotion there. I love face paints, whether it be UV or not, however usually the paint is applied after a few drinks. Today I had to get people to enter our competitions and things, all the while having this tiger print on my face. A little tricky to be taken seriously but it's all fun!

Day #252

Hey there! These are my swanky new shoes for work. They are a step up from my 3 pound plimsoles which gave me shin splints. Today while playing football with my friend Arthur, I managed to sprain my index finger, this sucks a little but I'm sure rest will solve everything!

Tomorrow I have another shift with Heart radio, it's at the big cat sanctuary which will be awesome because today a photo was uploaded in which a fellow angel was feeding a tiger.

This Sunday is Citadel festival and an adventure in London with Becca, it's going to be great!

Until tomorrow

Day #251

Hey there! Not much to report today except that myself and Bex are going on holiday to Crete in September! Woo! You may be thinking that Greece is in pretty bad money troubles right now but actually, we've been advised by all travel agents that the media is hyping everything up and even if Greece leave the Eurozone, it'll take a long time to transition the currency.

Right now, pictures taken 9 years ago of Pluto and its moons are being sent back to Earth, they look stunning. It's so sweet watching the NASA scientists getting super excited over their work and good for them!

Until tomorrow

Day #250

Hey there! I spent time with two of my most favourite people today, my nan and grandad. Apart from that, not a crazy amount else happened. I signed up for more shifts - whitstable oyster festival (don't ask), an outdoor cinema event and Brighton pride. All of which will be awesome!

Tomorrow I get to see Bex for the first time since Thursday so I'm super excited. This is only after I get my shin looked at by a local doctor.

Day #249

Hey there! Today I have been absolutely shattered. I woke up at 9 and was pretty much in a daze until 12 when I passed out on the sofa. It seems 39 hours of work in 3 days has really taken it out of me. Today's photo was actually taken on Friday but I've only just found it again. Myself and Katie (the girl in the photo) headed to the BBC tent where I got a picture on The voice's chair and we both got to present the news. This photo was taken in front of a green screen and I love it because I was trying to pose really hard but I didn't quite get it right.

Until tomorrow

Day #248

Hey there! So, today, waking up at 5, my shin splints seemed to have disappeared, I could walk fine and there was only a slight pain when I stretched my leg.

My first section of the day was being a general heart angel at Race for life, a race, specifically for women and some children to raise funds and awareness in the name of cancer research. To sum it up? What an amazing event, so powerful and at times, overwhelming. The idea of so many people uniting together to defy cancer, to stand up to it, with the intention of beating it was beautiful. This, coupled with personal reasons which I won't go into on the blog meant that many times helping out at the event was I moved to near-tears. I genuinely thought I would breakdown a number of times. Even thinking about it now is making me well up but that might also be because I am shattered!

The afternoon was a little chaotic, with a rain and wind swept county show to help out at and a gazebo that just would not stay still.

This weekend has been amazing, I feel so privileged to be a part of both Heart and Global radio. Although I am now shattered, my shins are in pain and my skin is more than a little burnt, this weekend has been incredible and I can't wait for my future with this company!

Until tomorrow

Day #247

Hey there! It was day number two of the Kent county show, my second shift as a heart angel and it was just as good as yesterday's (just with a little less Matt Baker). I smashed the approach of getting people to enter our competition and the only price to pay was I am now suffering with pretty bad shin splints. As a first timer to the shin splinting world, it sucks. Fingers crossed I'm back to full strength tomorrow for Race for life, we'll see when I wake up.

The two photos were taken in the opposite order to which they're shown. The selfie came when people realised I had longer arms meaning we could get all the angels from today in. The first photo came when the show was winding down and these two sun lovers were chilling on the giant deck chair.

Until tomorrow

Day #246

Oh hi there, is that a selfie with TV's Matt Baker? Why yes, yes it is.

Today was my first day as a Heart Angel and I loved it. The sunshine and buzz of the event definitely made up for the 5 o' clock alarm clock. The aim of today was to promote a partnership with southeastern rail by getting people involved in a competition to win free rail travel and an iPad mini. At about 11o clock a guy came along to ask us to turn our music down a little because they were filming countryfile in the next text over, it was a fruit judging contest and two of our angels went along to pick out the best cherries. Once I saw Matt Baker in the tent, I knew a picture was needed with him. As he was leaving I chased after him for a picture which he was so obliging to do. Tomorrow I'm at it again so I'm off to bed. At 21:30. On a Friday. Mad times.

Until tomorrow

Day #245

Hey there! Today, after a lovely visit to my nan, myself and Becca headed to Canterbury, I needed work jeans, shorts and shoes and Becca needed to get her phone fixed. The sun was shining as we walked past the cathedral and up through town, we both decided it was a great idea to browse build-a-bear. We didn't buy anything but I reflected that it was quite creepy having all these cuddly faces staring up at you all day. If I worked there, I'd be constantly paranoid.

Day #244

Hey there! Today was my exciting induction at Heart Fm, it was really interesting. We got shown round the recording studios, talked through all of the things that the Heart Angels get up to and to top it off, we got given these beautiful threads. The Kent county show is this weekend and so everything is gearing up for that. Tonight I'm heading out into town with some friends.

Until tomorrow

Day #243

Hey there! Today there was not much to report, I sorted a few things out, read my book and ran a couple of errands. I took this photo because I love how layered it is and how the writing is rough and bold. Tomorrow is my induction at Heart FM so I should probably get an early night.

Until tomorrow

Day #242

Good evening! Today I got a wicked phonecall at about 1 o' clock, I got the job of Heart angel (The job interview I went to last Friday. I have an induction on Wednesday and then I'm hitting up the Kent county show with the team at the weekend, it sounds like a lot of fun! Today's photos were taken whilst walking along the seafront, very moody but cute. The castle silhouetted is Deal castle, one of the area's 2 castles.

Until tomorrow

Day #241

Hey there! Today I have ebay-ed for a little bit, it's quite exciting winning a bid, even if it is for something that's a couple of pounds. I quite like the photos that I've used today, the first one especially because there is a split right down the middle between in focus and out of it. Lens' make super cool photos and I'm hoping for another crazy thunderstorm in the next few days to get a few photos of. Tonight I'm not sure what I'm up to, we'll see.

Until tomorrow

Day #240

Hey there! I've totally forgotten to do my blog today so this will be a really quick update. Today I visited the library for the first time for a while and borrowed a book written by Angus Donald, a Robin Hood enthusiast. The book is the 6th in the series and I can't wait to get into it. Today was family day and it was absolutely lovely.

Until tomorrow

Day #239

Hey there! Today was the day of the interview and in total, it went the best it could. I was pretty nervous about it because it was a group interview but in the end, there was only 3 candidates today and we were interviewed by two of the existing Heart team. When I came home I helped Dad with the cleaning and polished off Less than zero by Bret Easton Ellis, I loved reading it and I'm stuck for my next book. Tomorrow is my Uncle's birthday so we are having a family meal at my nans which should be lovely!

Until tomorrow

Day #238

Hey there! Today has been a total chill day, I got back from Becca's this morning and slept until 2, then prepped for tomorrow. Tomorrow I have a job interview to be a promoter for Heart FM, I'm excited and obviously all day was dedicated to preparation (not just sleep). The interview is a group interview, whereby each candidate pitches an idea for an advertising idea or experience.

Until tomorrow

Day #237

Hey there! Today, the first day of July, has been the hottest July day on record, with temperatures reaching up to 35 degrees, I personally have been sat in the garden, in the shade reading booked. I finished off Jay McInerney and now I'm on to Less than zero by Bret Easton Ellis - brilliant so far. Tonight I'm heading over to see Becca to chill out in the evening dusk. These photos, as you can see, were taken while watering the plants, something vital in the hot weather.

Until tomorrow

Will :)
